Masindi High Court Hosts Open Day, Launches Child Care Centre

The Masindi High Court today opened its grounds to the public during a Court Open Day presided over by the Resident Judge, Lady Justice Mary Babirye. 

The event, held under the theme "Enhancing Judicial Accountability and Access to Justice," has brought together Judicial Officers, justice sector stakeholders, and members of the public.

Lady Justice Babirye was welcomed by judicial officers including HW Angualia Moses Gabriel (Ag. Registrar, Inspectorate of Courts), HW Juliet Nakitende (Assistant Registrar, Masindi),and HW Abiti Samson Loum (Chief Magistrate, Kiryandongo), among others. She inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the Uganda Police Force before planting a tree on the Court's grounds to commemorate the day. She also toured exhibition stalls set up by stakeholders showcasing their work in the justice sector.

In a key highlight, Justice Babirye launched a Child Care Centre at the Court, stressing the importance of creating a supportive environment for court users, especially breastfeeding mothers and those with young children.

Earlier, Mr. Deo Akugizibwe, a Communications Officer, sensitized the public on Judiciary initiatives aimed at improving access to justice and took them through court processes to enhance public understanding.

The event has been attended by representatives of the Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Service, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, advocates, religious and district leaders, and members of the public. It is being moderated by HW Kosia Kasibayo (Chief Magistrate, Masindi) and Mr. Akugizibwe.
